54th EMG Conference, Leuven June 19 – 21, 2024 - Metabolism Links Rare and Common Diseases

Dear colleagues, dear friends,
On behalf of the European Metabolic Group (EMG) Advisory Board and Nutricia Metabolics, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 54th Conference of the EMG: “Metabolism links rare and common diseases”. The conference will be held in Leuven, Belgium from Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, June 21, 2024.

Situated in the heart of Europe, Leuven effortlessly combines medieval allure with contemporary sophistication. Its origins date back to the 9th century, evident in the charming architecture, cobblestone streets, and historic landmarks like the Groot Begijnhof, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city’s historical significance is intertwined with the founding of the University of Leuven in 1425, ranking among the leaders in research and innovation for almost six centuries, consistently maintaining its position among the world’s top universities. Beyond academia, Leuven is the home of the world-renowned AB Inbev “Stella Artois” breweries and thrives as a vibrant hub for global students and scholars, offering a diverse cultural scene with museums, galleries, theaters, and a dynamic culinary fusion of traditional Belgian and international flavors. Known as the “Innovation Capital of Europe”, Leuven’s forward-looking ethos and strategic location make it an ideal host for the EMG.

This conference will investigate the role of metabolism in more common diseases and situations as are: critical illness, oncology, metabolic syndrome, alcoholic liver disease, endurance sports, and so on. Each session will have an Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM) specialist setting the stage from the “rare” IEM perspective, while the remaining non-IEM speakers will shed light on the same part of metabolism, this time from their various “common” angles. Join us in exploring the connections between metabolism and diverse health conditions in these engaging sessions.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Leuven for this exciting conference.

With kindest regards,
